Journey on to the Ulun Danu Temple, one of Bali’s major landmarks. Located on the northwest edge of Lake Bratan (also known as “Holy Mountain” lake), the area is very fertile, and enjoys cool winters due to its lofty 1,200-meter altitude. Lake Bratan is also critical for irrigation; Bali is home to the oldest working irrigation system in the world and it is from here that water is distributed across all rice fields on the island.
After soaking up the stunning scenery, we’ll leave Lake Bratan to visit a working flower farm en-route to lunch. As we climb in altitude, we will stop for the picturesque views across the twin lakes of Buyan and Tamblingan, before arriving at our lunch venue, the View Restaurant (own expense). At the traditional Joglo-style restaurant, travelers can delight their taste buds with a delicious selection of Indonesian and Balinese dishes made from farm-fresh, locally sourced ingredients; all while savoring the cool mountain air and magnificent panoramic views.
